About Us

Tell a FriendThe Foundation operates programs as well as provides scholarships to high school seniors who have committed to continuing their education by attending college. The Foundation also awards savings bonds to ninth grade students pending successful completion of high school and entrance into college. This scholarship is potential-based and awards students who have demonstrated qualities that they too will someday become leaders and make positive contributions to our society.

As stated above, The Lighthouse Foundation awards annually renewable scholarships to deserving high school seniors and ninth grade students. Our scholarship programs are open to all eighth grade students and high school seniors who have distinguished themselves as leaders among peers in school and community, maintain excellence in the classroom, and display a “can-do” attitude despite obstacles. Each applicant competes for scholarship funds by completing an application and submitting an essay. It is the goal of our Foundation to provide students with the financial support to pursue higher education. In order for a scholarship recipient to receive funds, certain conditions must be met. These conditions are:

• Mandatory graduation from high school
• Acceptance at a college, university, or trade/ technical school
• Choosing to remain chemically free

School Program- Criteria for Selection:
• Excellent Attendance (with excused absences)
• Good Conduct (no suspensions, detention time, etc.)
• Acceptable Grades (must not be in failing status in class)
• Regular Submission Of Homework (in acceptable presentation and format)

Once a scholarship recipient has been accepted and has begun the enrollment process at their chosen institute of higher learning, the Foundation will forward scholarship monies to the school’s Financial-Aid office in the name of the recipient. Scholarship applications are made available each year in October, and students are required to submit the application and supporting material by March 31 of the following year. Winners are notified by Foundation staff and recognized in Foundation material and on its Website.
